Verity and Colin fly the flag at British Masters Championships

This weekend, two of our masters swimmers — Verity Dobbie and Colin Ovington — are making the trip to Aberdeen for the British Masters Championships, running 12 to 14 June.

British Masters Swimming Championships 2026

It's a busy weekend for the club. While much of the team will be at the Louisa Centre for our Summer Medley Meet, Verity and Colin will be 500 miles north competing at the highest level of domestic masters swimming in the country. Not a bad split.

If you're not familiar with the British Masters, it's not your average masters gala. It's held in a 50m long-course pool, rotates between England, Scotland and Wales, and draws the fastest masters swimmers from all three home nations. World, European and British records are broken there regularly, which gives you a sense of the standard.

The meet also includes competition for the Cupar Trophy, awarded to the top-performing club nationally, and performances count towards national masters rankings. It's the masters equivalent of the British Championships for age-group swimmers, the pinnacle of the domestic calendar.

We're proud to have Verity and Colin representing D&G on that stage. Good luck to both of them.

More details on the meet can be found on our British Masters Championships 2026 page.
