Learn to Swim

Discover the Joy of Swimming

Learner swimmer

Our Learn to Swim section follows the full Swim England Learn to Swim framework, guiding children and beginners from Level 1 through to Level 7 with structure, care, and purpose.

Learning to swim is one of the most important life skills anyone can gain — building confidence, resilience, and water safety awareness that lasts a lifetime.

Our qualified instructors create a supportive environment at Birtley Community Pool, where every swimmer can progress at their own pace. Each level develops essential skills and strong technique, ensuring swimmers not only enjoy the water but feel genuinely capable and safe within it.

Session Times

Our Learn to Swim sessions run every Sunday, 3:00pm – 4:30pm at Birtley Community Pool.

What Comes Next?

Completing the Learn to Swim journey is a major milestone, and what comes next is entirely up to each swimmer. Some choose to move into competitive racing, water polo, triathlon, or lifesaving. Others discover a passion for teaching and go on to inspire the next generation. And many simply finish their journey with the most important outcome of all — being confident and safe around water for life.
