D&G Masters swimmers are heading to Ponds Forge, Sheffield, for the Swim England Masters National Championships from 23–25 October 2026.
From the speed of the 50m events to the endurance of the 1500m Freestyle, our team will take on a varied programme of short-course racing. Our individual-event line-up includes Diane Chaney, Joan Edwards, Verity Dobbie, Matthew Grant, Paul Bowman, Lewis Maxwell and David Chaney.
A national weekend for our Masters
The 25m championships bring a national stage to the team’s autumn racing calendar. There is plenty for D&G supporters to follow, with freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly and individual medley all featuring in our swimmers’ programmes.

Diane Chaney
Age group: 60–64
Diane’s programme pairs the endurance challenge of the 1500m Freestyle with the 200m Freestyle.

Age group: 65–69
Joan takes on four freestyle distances, ranging from 100m to 800m.

Verity combines breaststroke and freestyle across five events, with both sprint and distance racing on her programme.

Lewis Maxwell · A new chapter
Age group: 18–24
A special shout-out to Lewis, who will be competing as a Masters swimmer for the very first time. After incredible success throughout his swimming career, this weekend marks the start of a new chapter, and it is fantastic to see him taking that next step in D&G colours.
Lewis makes his Masters debut on the national stage with four events across backstroke, individual medley, butterfly and freestyle. Everyone at the club wishes him a brilliant first Masters meet and every success in the racing ahead.

A first for D&G: men’s 4×200m Freestyle relay
For the first time ever, D&G have entered the men’s 4×200m Freestyle relay, racing in the 240+ combined-age category.
Matthew Grant, David Chaney, Paul Bowman and Colin Ovington will line up together for this club milestone. It adds a special team occasion to the weekend’s individual racing, and another reason for everyone at D&G to get behind our Masters.
