How to Qualify for the North East Regionals (SENER) 2026

Your club affiliation, not your home address, determines eligibility.

You qualify if you are registered with a club that belongs to the Swim England North East Region, which for D&G athletes, is Northumberland & Durham

Achieve the 2026 Consideration Times

A consideration time in swimming is a performance standard that allows a swimmer to be considered for entry into a meet, but importantly, it does not guarantee a place. It’s slightly different from a qualification time because qualification times give guaranteed entry, while consideration times only give you a chance.

What a consideration time means

  • A consideration time is a guideline time that swimmers MUST meet or beat to be considered.
  • Meeting the time doesn’t ensure acceptance if the meet is oversubscribed.
  • Organisers fill events with the fastest swimmers until the programme is full.
  • If a meet uses only consideration times, everyone must meet the standard, but places still depend on space.

Why consideration times and not qualification times?

  • Consideration times help the NER Region manage unpredictable entry numbers.
  • To keep the standard of racing high without having automatic places.
  • To give organisers flexibility when building the meet schedule.

Swim England North East publishes Consideration Times for each event. To qualify, you must hit the time before the closing date.   Athletes achieving times in a specific event, after the deadline will NOT be able to compete.

You must have hit the time at a licensed meet (Level 1–3)   Converted Times will be accepted using the ASA Equivalent Performance Tables.  Please note that times set at Level 4 Meets will NOT be accepted.

Once the time appears on Swim England Rankings, it counts.
