D&G Mini Meet

A friendly introduction to racing for D&G’s youngest swimmers, with the excitement of a gala in a supportive, low-pressure environment.

What is a Mini Meet?

Our Mini Meets give younger swimmers a chance to experience the fun of competitive swimming in a friendly, informal setting. The emphasis is on building confidence, having a go and enjoying racing, rather than worrying about disqualifications.

What to expect

Previous Mini Meets have included a parade of swimmers, pre-race warm-ups, marshalling, race starts and a medal ceremony. It is a chance to become familiar with how a gala works, with encouragement from coaches, volunteers and older swimmers along the way.

A whole-club effort

Older swimmers have supported our Mini Meets through timekeeping, marshalling and helping younger swimmers feel at ease. Parent volunteers also play an important part in making these evenings possible.
