Scottish National Open Championships 2026
What a fantastic morning and afternoon of heats in Edinburgh for the Scottish National Open Championship. A special shout out to Coach Chris for his brilliant work looking after Team D&G throughout the day.
Good luck also to D&G swimmer Evie, competing with her University team Stirling this weekend, who made the A Final in the 400 IM.
Then came the first night of finals, and Team D&G delivered.
Alice took gold and smashed her lifetime best in a brilliant performance to open the finals.
Talia ended the night in the fastest heat of the 1500 Freestyle, taking 15 seconds off her personal best for Team D&G's second gold of the evening.
Ben and Lewis had a race of their own in the 200 IM B Final, finishing in a very close finish between the two.
Anna came so close to a medal in a very competitive A Final, finishing 4th in a tight race.
Alice and Ben rounded off a tough double-final session with strong swims in the 200 Fly.
Another day of solid swimming in the morning and afternoon heats. On to Day 2 finals, and Team D&G stepped up big time.
Brilliant finals to watch from both the boys and girls, with strong performances across both the 400M and 200M IM events. All swimmers improving on their heat times and Peter securing a hard fought second place in the B Final.
Lewis improved on his morning heat to take 3rd place in the B Final of the 100 Backstroke.
Anna came so close again to a medal against a tough field, finishing 4th in the A Final.
Alice and Talia fought it out in the 400 Freestyle A Final in a very close race. Alice finished just ahead to take bronze, with Talia in 4th place.
Well done to every swimmer who raced on Saturday. Time for refuel and recovery before the last day of competition.
That's the heat sessions complete in Edinburgh for the final day of the Scottish National Open Swimming Championships. Another great day of swimming by all of Team D&G with some impressive performances across the board.
Alice closed out the afternoon session with a bronze in the 800M Freestyle.
Alice and Talia placed 1st and 2nd in the B Final of the 200M Freestyle to open the evening finals in style.
Emily and Evie raced side by side in the 100M Butterfly, both improving on their heat times. Lewis followed with a strong swim in the B Final.
Anna stormed through the 50M Breaststroke to win the B Final in a brilliant performance.
Conan rounded off the weekend's finals with a solid swim in the 200M Backstroke A Final.
What a weekend for Team D&G
Well done to all swimmers who competed over the weekend, especially those who qualified for the Scottish Nationals for the first time. A huge thank you to Coach Chris for doing a fantastic job throughout the competition. Safe travels home.
