What an incredible day for Derwentside & Gateshead Swim Team at the N&D Championships Teams Day 2026
From the very first race to the final canon race, the atmosphere on poolside was absolutely electric. We had swimmers representing every one of our competitive squads, showing exactly what being part of D&G is all about – commitment, pride, and a real sense of team spirit. Seeing our younger swimmers racing alongside our senior athletes created a brilliant club environment and highlighted the strength and depth of our team
There were smiles, laughter, big races, and even bigger celebrations, with swimmers stepping up to perform when it mattered most. We saw fantastic team relays, exciting finals appearances and well-deserved medals, but just as importantly we saw teammates supporting each other every step of the way. The noise from our swimmers and supporters made for an unforgettable poolside atmosphere that truly captured the spirit of Teams Day
Days like this are what club swimming is all about — racing hard, supporting each other, and making memories that last long after the final whistle. Every swimmer who represented D&G should be proud of the effort, attitude and team spirit they showed throughout the day.
A huge well done to all of our swimmers and a big thank you to the coaches, team managers, our volunteers and officials who volunteered their services to help make the day go ahead, and of course our supporters who helped make the day so special
