The Season Ends Where It Should. On the Biggest Stage.

Driven  ·  Determined  ·  Disciplined

D&G athletes at the Summer Nationals 2026Last weekend, a group of D&G athletes competed at the Scottish Summer Nationals. Tomorrow, our qualifiers step onto the blocks at Aquatics GB Next Gen. And in two weeks, the Swim England Summer Nationals. Three major meets. One end-of-season statement.

This is what the whole year has been building towards.

These athletes have not had identical journeys to get here. But they have all earned their place.

To everyone who raced last weekend at the Scottish Summer Nationals — well done. Competing at national level takes more than talent. It takes the discipline to show up when training is hard, the determination to keep going when results do not come easily, and the drive to keep raising the bar. You did that.

To those racing at Next Gen tomorrow and at the Swim England Summer Nationals in two weeks — you are ready. You have done the work. The taper is done. The times are on the board. Now it is your turn to race.

Some of you have been here before and know exactly what it takes. Some of you are stepping onto this stage for the first time. Some have had a year that has tested you in ways that had nothing to do with swimming. Injuries, setbacks, the relentless grind of balancing A Levels, GCSEs, or university alongside full training loads. You kept going anyway. That matters.

Balancing elite sport with exams, deadlines, and everything else life throws at you is not a footnote. It is part of what makes getting to this point genuinely impressive.

To the veterans in the group — your experience is an asset. You know how to race when it counts. Use it.

To the younger athletes stepping up — you belong here. Trust your preparation and race your own race.

To everyone who has had a harder year than expected — the fact that you are here at all says everything.

None of this happens without the people who give their time so that others can compete. To the coaches who are travelling to these meets and will be poolside for long hours — thank you. Your commitment goes well beyond the hours on the clock.

To our team managers and every volunteer who has handled the logistics, the paperwork, the kit, the travel, and the hundred other things that make a national meet possible — it does not go unnoticed. These events run because of you.

The athletes get to race because you show up. That is worth saying out loud.

We are proud of every single one of you. Not just for qualifying. For the whole year. For the early mornings, the hard sessions, the commitment to the process even when the process was not straightforward.

Go and race well. Swim fast. Enjoy it.

Driven. Determined. Disciplined.
