What a week it has been at the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships 2026! The D&G Swim Team has had an outstanding championships, with each and every swimmer giving their absolute best across the competition.
The team put in a series of impressive performances throughout the week, with a fantastic number of athletes making it through to finals and junior finals — a tremendous achievement at a competition of this level and a real testament to the hard work put in by every swimmer and coach.
It was also a privilege to spend the week in the company of Olympians, and we were honoured to witness several records throughout the championships. Being part of an event of this calibre and seeing the very best of British swimming up close, is an experience our athletes will carry with them for a long time.
Standout Performances
Special congratulations go to Ben, who delivered a superb performance to win the Junior 200m Fly Final and equally impressive was Alice, who claimed 2nd place in the Junior Final . Both these athletes should be very proud of themselves.
We also want to give a shout-out to Tia, who made her first ever appearance at a these championships this week and went one further by making a final on her debut. That is something to be proud of.
Across the week, we were also delighted to also see Anna and Lewis make B-finals Making a final at a competition of this standard is an amazing achievement, and every one of them should be proud of what they delivered in the water this week.
Every Journey is Unique
It is worth taking a moment to reflect on what it means to compete at a championships like this. Every swimmer on the team has their own journey, their own challenges, and their own story of what it has taken to reach this point. Whether that journey has involved overcoming injury or illness, balancing school, exams and training, pushing through challenging periods, or simply turning up day after day and putting in the work, it all counts.
Regardless of how each swimmer feels about their individual performances this week, one thing is certain: every single one of you should be incredibly proud of your achievements. Getting to this stage is no small feat, and representing D&G Swim Team at the Aquatics GB Championships is something to be celebrated.
Thank You to Our Incredible Volunteers and Staff
A championships like this doesn't happen without the people working tirelessly behind the scenes.
A huge thank you to our Head Coach, Paul Woodley, who spent the entire week poolside offering support, guidance, and encouragement to our athletes. Woodley's commitment to getting the best out of every swimmer is something the whole club is grateful for.
A massive thank you also to Tina, who served as our team manager throughout the entire week and did so whilst sporting an arm-sling! Your dedication to this club is amazing, and the team could not have had a better person in their corner. We hope you're resting that arm now!
Thanks also to Graham and Darren, who once again flew the flag for D&G as official marshals at the championships. As many of you will know from our previous coverage, their contribution as officials is invaluable — not just to our club, but to the sport as a whole. We are very proud to have them representing D&G.
Well done to every swimmer, whether you had one race or 10, you're all amazing!
