Another brilliant Mini Meet was held at the Louisa Centre last night, and it was a fantastic evening for the whole club.
The evening kicked off in style with a parade of swimmers and their marshals, setting the tone for what was a loud, enthusiastic and thoroughly enjoyable night from start to finish.
The Mini Meet gives our youngest swimmers the opportunity to experience all the fun and excitement of a real gala without the pressure of worrying about disqualifications. They got to take part in pre-race warm-ups, marshalling, the starting gun, and a full medal ceremony at the end. For many of them, it was their first taste of competitive swimming in a supportive, low-pressure environment.
Our slightly older swimmers stepped up brilliantly, taking on timekeeping duties throughout the evening. Meanwhile our seniors did a fantastic job of team support and marshalling. It was great to see them having fun alongside the younger swimmers, answering their questions and helping to ease any nerves along the way.
A huge thank you also to all our parent volunteers who gave their time to team manage, start, run the club shop, and everything in between. Events like this simply would not happen without you.
The Mini Meet is the brainchild of Jay, who led it for the last time last night before handing the reins to Katie, our new coach. Thank you Jay for everything you have put into making this such a special event for our youngest members. We know Katie will carry it forward brilliantly.
Well done to everyone involved. This is what D&G is all about.
