While the rest of Team D&G were racing at Sunderland, Alice was having a race of her own — competing in the Aquatics GB Open Water Knock Out competition at Swim Six Hills in Leicester.
It was a gruelling series of swims. Alice swam the last leg of the 4x1200m relay, taking the team from 9th to 5th place. An hour later, the individual knock out round began with a 1600m race. The fastest 15 progressed straight into a 1000m swim, and then the fastest 10 went straight into the final 400m race with no rest in between.
A photo finish was needed, with Alice just missing out on a bronze medal. An incredible effort across such a demanding race programme.
